Inspiration: Helen Rödel

I've never been much of a crocheter. In fact, to this day I'm still confused as to how to crochet, because I'm primarily a knitter, but after looking at Helen Rödel's work, I really want to learn how to crochet. Her work is amazing and watching videos of her talking about and working on her clothing is amazing. Makes me want to try to knit more clothing that is wearable. (Currently working on a chevron blanket for Aaron and I.) But anyway, Helen's work is wonderful. I highly suggest you check it out.

Music Suggestion / Television: Buddy Greco - "Around the World" / Pan Am

So whilst searching Hulu for something interesting to watch I came upon Pan Am, a new show on ABC and so far I'm totally into it. The whole style of the show and the questions I have, I'm really looking forward to watching more and finding out what is really going on. Plus, the soundtrack is wonderful. I love some good 50's-60's music and this show has a good selection, even after only the first two episodes I've seen. For a short list of songs from the show, try this site, it was the only thing I could really find (search Youtube if you are interested in just listening to the songs, because that site wants you to purchase the songs on Amazon) , I suppose the actual soundtrack will come out when the season is over.
One of the songs that I would suggest, that fits so well with the show and is really catchy, is this one by Buddy Greco.

Top 5 Reasons Why I Wish I Was A Zombie

Zombie me (Halloween a few years ago)
Now if there is one thing I love, it's zombies and zombie related things. Zombie movies are the best, zombie graphic novels, the best, zombie costumes, the bestest, zombie songs, even bestestessst. I love it all.

BRAINS!

  1. DECAYING, BUT NOT DEAD: Or are they? Who knows! Zombies from all different stories are somewhat mysterious creatures, and who wouldn't want to be a mysterious creature? One that tons of people fear? Ultimate power! (Sort of.) Their creepy-ness is something that makes them cool, and I have always wanted to be one of the cool kids.
  2. BRAINS: BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS (desire for) BRAINS BRAIN BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS BRAINS
  3. SPEED: There are many different depictions of how fast a zombie moves, if you're going with the classic Night of the Living Dead kind of zombie, they are pretty slow, but if your going with Dawn of the Dead type zombie, then you are a pretty fast runner. Personally I would go with the Dawn of the Dead type, that way I could scare more and chase better, henceforth catching more brains to feed my brainless decaying body.
  4. STRENGTH IN NUMBERS: If you're going for a more Walking Dead type of zombie, then you have to believe in the fact that there is strength in numbers. Things are always easier with a little help from your friends, and having the undead as your friend is even better. Hunting together, walking together, moaning together, looking like you have no thoughts at all together, munchin on some brains together, it's just good friendly fun that you can share with others. Remember strength in numbers always increases your chance of NOT getting shot in the head (or axed, or hammered, or what-have-you).
  5. HOLLYWOOD CELEBRITY: Now, I know you must be thinking, "Huh?," and "What?," but I am thinking, "Yes." Everyone involved in a zombie apocalypse knows who (or should I say what) you are because you are the current hot topic. What would be trending most on Twitter during a zombie apocalypse, well duh, ZOMBIES! and that is exactly what you are. You are the talk of the town and totally hip on the new undead trend. Totally rad.

September in Review

Blogs I Found and Enjoyed:
Books I Read This Month:
  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - review found here
  • Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (second in The Hunger Games series) - review found here
  • Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (third and last in The Hunger Games series) - review found here
  • Coraline by Neil Gaiman - review found here
  • The Walking Dead (Volume 10): What We Become by Robert Kirkman
Books I Plan On Reading:
Movies I Watched For The First Time:
  • Alien - totally awesome, can't believe it took me so long to watch it. Aaron and I are thinking of getting the box set with all the movies.
  • Watchmen - again, don't know why it took me so long to watch this. Aaron and I bought it on blu ray and it was a good watch, bought the book, I'm sure the book is much better. But Rorschach has to be my new favorite comic book character.
  • Aliens - totally awesome again, yet it reminds me a lot of Avatar because of how many similarities I caught between the two, even though their plots are very different.
  • Hellboy - was always really uninterested in this movie, but it turned out to be a pretty fun watch.
  • Winter's Bone - wanted to originally watch this because the lead (Jennifer Lawrence) is going to be playing the lead in The Hunger Games as well and wanted to see how good of an actress she's going to be. She is good, the movie was an okay watch, interesting, but nothing all that thrilling. A little twisted and sad, which made it interesting.
  • Predator 2 - pretty hilarious that Danny Glover was the lead in this movie, only because the only other movie I've seen him in is Be Kind Rewind, and to compare his character in that to the character in Predator 2 is pretty hilarious. Also strange that it was set in Los Angeles? Anyone? I dunno, thought it was kinda a big leap to go from being in the jungle in the middle of nowhere to being in Los Angeles. Aaron pointed out while we were watching it that in the one scene where Danny Glover sees all the skulls that the Predator has been collecting, there is an Alien skull among them. I guess their alliance was long planned, huh?
  • Alien 3 - (can you see a pattern here?) (SPOILER ALERT) just as good as the others, but when Aaron told me that Sigourney Weaver's character comes back in the other Alien movies, I was a little surprised, why? Because she dies!
  • Alien: Resurrection - another Sigourney Weaver win.
  • Alien VS Predator - Alien and Predator in the snow? Yes please. Thank you. Loved the whole competition and rights of passage kind of story they made to bring these two characters together.
  • Alien VS Predator: Requiem - small town attacked by Aliens? Yes please. Any situation with Alien or Predator, I'm into it, no matter how ridiculous.
  • Thor - I wasn't ever really excited to see this movie when it was out in theaters, now I kind of regret it, because it was actually a pretty good watch. Can't wait for the Avengers movie to come out next year.
